Anza Borrego

Rain is predicted for Saturday. It looks like a dreary sort of day here at home. Andy checks the computer to see if there will be rain in the desert. No rain is expected in the desert until tomorrow. Temperatures should be a little nicer than they are at home.

Terry and Andy decide to take a day trip to one of their favorite spots, Anza Borrego State Park in the desert, west of Salton Sea and northeast of San Diego. They need to get out of town, even if it's only for one day.

They drive east past Palm Springs and turn south at Indio and continue driving beside the Salton Sea. Eventually they arrive at Anza Borrego, one of the largest state parks in the country. They enjoy the change of scenery down here. The vegetation is pretty green because of the winter rains.

At the park visitor center they see a short movie about the park, they browse through the exhibits, and take a little walk.

Here are some photos of what they saw...

Later, they had a leisurely lunch in the town of Borrego Springs, and made their way home west , through the mountains to Temecula, where they took the freeway the rest of the way home.
